Congratulations studio owners, I want to tell you how impressed I am by your flexibility and how quickly you maneuvered your businesses to still maintain business. Even in a crazy situation where you couldn’t even be open. I saw studios jumped to the punch to get their pottery, to go, efforts to do virtual classes, to do a lot of things that they were never even tempted to do before and I want to talk to you about why. First off, all of these new methods are incredible. I’ve seen studio owners say they have their best month ever last month and they were closed. They were operating on a set of circumstances that were way outside of their control. They had government intervention that was closing their studios. They were reacting day to day in and out. Now I know it was a tiresome battle and you couldn’t do that every single day, but I want to challenge you to think about what would happen in your normal course of business if we got a little out of our comfort zone and said we had to do things like that every single day.
We had to think about new creative ideas and ways that we could make our businesses run even under adverse conditions. If we were to take that pottery to go and let’s say that you did that two years ago, how much more money could you have been making all this time? So I want to challenge each and every one of you to think outside the box and continue. I know you’re already on this trail, so while you still have a little bit of downtime and you’re still closed, I want you to reinvent your business yet again for when you reopen and plan for revenue sources that you never attempted to use before. Think about how you can sell things online, open up the world of your services to everyone across the country, not just those who were in your backyard, and make sure that you have a plan in place to keep this trail going.
You’ve got a great streak here of the pottery to go. Don’t turn it off just because you reopen your doors. Keep that revenue stream going and let’s think of more ideas and ways that you can bring more revenue into the studio and share the experience of your studio, even if it’s outside your studios’ doors. People still love you and they want to have arts and crafts in their life, and this has been a great thing to help families get through these tough times. Don’t let that momentum stop. Thanks a lot.
